Conscious Box Review

I've been slacking on the blog, Sorry. Ive been busy with Christmas and planning Brady's party, all of which will be on the blog very soon :)

For Grey Monday I signed up with Conscious Box for a 3 month subscription. I've wanted to try the box for awhile but I was unable to find any coupon codes to purchase it as a discounted price. For grey Thursday, they offered a 3 month subscription for the price of a 2 month subscription.
Cha-Ching!
To my surprise it included a few baby items which I really like.. I love the uniqueness of the box, eco-friendly and out of the ordinary samples. Its also packed with alot of stuff.
Here's a peek into our box, Enjoy :)

The boxes retail for $19.95, with the deal that I got, my box was around $13.30 which seems like a good value. I'm excited to get my next box, hopefully there are more baby samples and coupons like this box.

FREE DIY Scarf

I found a diy scraf on pinterest....story of my life these days, lol.
This project was free because I used products I already owned.
I used one of my husbands old white tshirts and some leftover Rit dye to make my scarf.

First, cut your shirt in half, just below the arm pits.
Then cut even "slats" at the bottom of the shirt, the width is up to you, I did about 1/2 inch each.
Pull the cut pieces down and release as if you are trying to stretch them out.

I dyed my scarf dark pink using red rit diluted with alot of water. Soak in a large bucket of hot water for about an hour. Ring it out and wash it till the water runs clear. I washed mine in the washing machine twice as well.

Done!

Macy's Deals on Skip Hop

Sorry Ladies (and gents) I've been slacking on the blog lately :(
I'm working hard on my son's First Birthday Party. I just got my Silhouette machine in today and the suspense is killing me. As soon as those kiddos are asleep, I'm crafting away the rest of the night. lol.

Today's deal is for one of my favorite brands, Skip Hop.
Macy's has a few items on sale that you can also use with their weekly coupon to further your savings.

Skip Hop Bib, on sale for $1.60, that's a great deal in itself because the same bib is $8.00+  at Target and Toys R Us.

I also found a lunch bag, on sale for $11.20, regular $14.00 at Skip Hop or Target.

I have two coupons below for you to use, $10 off of a $25 purchase. If you can find the above items in store, you will further your savings even more. I was thinking you could purchase 3 of the above insulated lunch bags for $23.60. Great Christmas gift or an upcoming birthday gift that parents would appreciate. Buy a gender neutral one and you could use for a boy or a girl birthday.

SilhouettePortrait Cutting Machine

Ahhhhh, I'm so excited I can barely contain myself. I just ordered my Silhouette portrait machine.
I have been wanting one for awhile but $300 price tag seemed a bit much. A few months ago, they announce the new Portrait Machine, which is basically a cheaper, smaller version of the Cameo.
 Cha-Ching!

So anyhow, my hubby let me order it as an early Christmas Present :)
I'm so ready to use this! It cuts card stock, fabric, vinyl....oh the birthday possibilities. No expensive cartridges needed either! You use the fonts already on your computer and only purchase images you need from their online store.

Here's the deal I got on it.
I alwayssss check Amazon before I order things, especially toys and electronics because we have Amazon Prime, which means no tax and free 2 day shipping. Amazon prime is $79.00 a year, they may not be worth it for some people, but I order at least twice a month from Amazon and I order large things, which means higher shipping charges. You can also have items OVERNIGHT ED for only $3.99. Which is the best deal to me.
Read more about it here.http://www.amazon.com/gp/prime/ref=footer_prime

I opted not to purchase the Silhouette from the manufacturer for a few reasons:
1. They charge shipping
2, They charge taxes
3. I was unsure of their return policy. I like fast and easy returns, nothing complicated.

For these reasons, I purchased from Amazon. Amazon's price was the same as the manufacturers. But, Amazon was also offering a $5.00 off a $25.00 purchase.  (looks as if you can use this offer more than once)

So, If I ordered from the manufacturer,

 I would have paid $199.00 +$15.00 tax + (at least $10.00 shipping)= $225.00

BUT, I paid $199.00-$5.00= $194.00

Rotating Craft Carousel 68% off

Today Im sharing ONE of the black friday deals I scored last week. I have been wanting this rotating carousel at Potterybarn for awhile to hold all of our craft supplies.

Obviously, I didn't want to pay $40 for a crayon holder....
Michaels and Hobby Lobby had similar ones but were priced the same or even HIGHER than the Potterybarn Kids one.

I chose the one at Michael's on Black Friday. It was regularly priced at $49.99, but was on sale for $22.69. I also had a coupon to get an ADDITIONAL 30% off of sale items, which brought my total down to $15.88. Steal!
Originally I planned to paint inorange like the Potterybarn one but I really like it white and it seems to blend into my kitchen. lol

Christmas Garland and Wreath for under $20

I'm very excited to share my first Christmas Decorating post on the blog. Today will be a 9 foot garland and matching wreath for a total for $20 or less.

My best friend in this savings project is the good ole DOLLAR TREE.

First, I'd like to share a glimpse of my tree. It isn't finished yet, I still haven't decided on a topper yet. lol.

Pinterest gets all the credit for my tree looking fabulous this year. My inspiration for my tree came from here, here, and here.

Here are some of the ornaments on our tree:

Fleur de lis came from Roussels in Gonzales
Red & Gold Two Tone came from Dollar Tree
Big Ben from PotteryBarn

Here are the supplies I used for the garland and the wreath:

Now, on to the Garland first. I used a plain 9 foot garland I found at Walmart for $2.00

Stretch the garland out across your table or tie it between two chairs.
Evenly spread all the branches out.

Add your deco mesh and tie off every 6 inches or so. Remember to pouf it out as you go.

Add your wired ribbon and form a bow every 8-12 inches.

Add your ornaments using pipe cleaners or secure to the garland branches.

The finished garland can be used on the top of your fireplace, hanging from your fireplace, entryway tables or doors. I plan to make another for my foyer or outdoor patio.

Next up is the wreath.

Extend all the branches on your wreath, this will make the project go much faster.

Weave your deco mesh throughout your wreath in 3-4 inch sections and secure with garland branches.

DO NOT cut your deco mesh into sections.

Add your tinsel garland around the edges of your deco mesh. Secure with garland branches

Add ornaments and accents using pipe cleaners garland branches or hot glue.
I used pipe cleaners for mine so I can take everything off if needed.

Total Project Cost:
Wreath- $2.50
Garland- $2.00
4 Large Ornaments for Garland- $4.00
3 Packs of Misc. Ornaments- $3.00
Ribbon- $3.00
Deco Mesh- $3.00 (on sale 50% off at Hobby Lobby)
Tinsel Garland- $1.00
Misc. ornaments I already owned (free)
TOTAL $18.50

*After I purchased my wreath and garland at Walmart, our Dollar Tree came out with wreaths and garland as well. If you purchase from there, you will save an additional $2.50, which will bring your total cost to $16.00 for both. You could also save more money if you use all your existing ribbon and ornaments. I put up my tree first and completely decorated it before I started this project. That way whatever was “leftover” in the ornament box, I knew I could use on my projects. This is also why I used pipe cleaners to secure everything, in case I need to take anything off for next year.
